My Favorite Pizza and Beer Combos – Pint 2

The second round of my pizza and beer recommendations goes to Odd Otter and Wooden City.

Odd Otter Brewing Company – 716 Pacific Ave, Tacoma, WA 98402

Beginning in 2013, this Downtown Tacoma veteran-owned brewery helped anchor the North end of the light rail beer corridor (I just made that up) and was an early proponent of different, innovative beers.  Their Ottermelon Hefeweizen is the most famous example that is a pure glass of summer sunshine.  Do yourself a favor and try something new – there’s always something odd to try!

My pairing recommendation:

Just next door to Odd Otter is Wooden City and their wood fired pizzas.  I shouldn’t need to say more than that, but I will.  Their bacon pesto pizza has both mozzarella and gorgonzola plus an aged balsamic glaze.  All of that paired with the Jolly Otter ESB, an English-style Extra Special Bitter (ESB) that’s both malty and hoppy, makes for one happy palate.
